BRIEF HISTORY

Brief History

Having developed Villa Concepcion – a first classsubdivision located along the  National Highway at the very front ofBarangay BagongPook in Pila, Laguna, the Relova clan initiated by Mrs.Concepcion R. Relova with husband Edmundo A. Relova together with daughterRosario R.Calo, Mrs. Daisy R.  Murriel, Leila R.  Noceda and Ma.TeresitaR.  Fajardo had thought of putting up an educational institution thatwould be offering curricular programs that are geared towards excellence inScience and Business.

Thus, a 4000 square meters lot in front ofVilla Concepcion was chosen as the site of the school where the Relova clandecided to build. At first, financing the construction of the first buildingwas problematic but it was later solved through a bank loan granted to theRelova family.

Thus, South Greenville School wasfounded on February 14, 2000.

Rev. Msgr. Renato Cosico, the ParishPriest of San Antonio, blessed the cornerstone of the first SGS four-classroombuilding which now houses the Preschool Department.

In June 2001, SGS opened its doors toits first enrollees, who numbered at 29. In the same school year, it wasgranted its Government Recognition from Preschool to complete Elementary Schoollevels. Academic policies were handled by hiring Mrs. Sonia Agapay as its firstprincipal together with Mrs. Dorothy V. Bituin, Ms. Evangeline Quintal, Ms.Loida K. De Leon, and Ms. Eloisa Alfonso as its pioneer faculty members.

Having felt the need for morebuildings due to its increasing population, SGS management decided to put up atwo-storey ten- classroom building in 2003. From 29 pupils in school year2001-2002, the population grew to 178 in SY 2002-2003.

In the followingschool year, first and second year high school courses were also offered. SGScurricular programs were then centered on science and business. Facilities wereadded such as the construction of an administrative building in front of theschool and additional classrooms.

In School Year2004-2005, third and fourth year high school curricular years were added tocomplete the secondary course. It was in the same year that SGS has its firsthigh school graduates.
